Queen Sirikit, mother of Thailand's King Vajiralongkorn, has passed away at the age of 93.
The Thai Royal Household Bureau announced that she died “peacefully” at 21:21 local time (14:21 GMT) on Friday at a hospital in Bangkok.
The bureau stated that Queen Sirikit had been hospitalised since 2019 and had been suffering from various health issues, including a recent blood infection.
For over sixty years, she was married to King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Thailand’s longest-reigning monarch, who passed away in 2016. During their international travels, Queen Sirikit was widely admired as a global style icon.
